Houston Is Hosting 7 World Cup Matches

The 2026 FIFA World Cup is coming to Houston. NRG Stadium — temporarily renamed Houston Stadium for the tournament — will host seven matches from June 14 through July 4, including group stage games featuring Germany, Portugal (twice), the Netherlands, Cape Verde, and Saudi Arabia, plus a Round of 32 and a Round of 16 match on Independence Day.

This is the biggest international sporting event Houston has ever hosted, and hotel rooms across the city will fill fast. Here's why The District at Hogg Palace is the smart choice for World Cup visitors.

METRORail Direct to the Stadium

Our hotel is a short walk from METRORail's Preston station in downtown Houston. The Red Line runs directly to NRG Park station with service every 6 minutes during the tournament — making it one of the easiest stadium connections of any World Cup host city. Skip the traffic, skip the $50 event parking, and ride the train straight to the gates.

After the match, the train brings you back to downtown Houston where restaurants, bars, and your suite are all within walking distance. No surge pricing, no designated driver needed.

Full Kitchens for International Travelers

Traveling from overseas for the World Cup? Every suite has a full kitchen with a refrigerator, stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher, and complete cookware. Cook familiar meals from home, store snacks and drinks for match day, and save money on dining during what will be an expensive event week. For families and groups traveling together, this is a game-changer compared to a standard hotel room with a mini fridge.

Suites That Fit Your Group

World Cup trips are rarely solo. Our suites range from 700 sq ft studios for couples to 1,600 sq ft two-bedroom apartments that sleep six. Every suite has a separate living area, dining table, and in-unit washer/dryer — so your group has room to gather, plan the day, and actually enjoy the trip without living on top of each other.

Houston's Match Schedule

June 14 — Germany vs. Curaçao (Group E)

June 17 — Portugal vs. DR Congo (Group K)

June 20 — Netherlands vs. Sweden/Ukraine/Poland/Albania (Group F)

June 23 — Portugal vs. Uzbekistan (Group K)

June 26 — Cape Verde vs. Saudi Arabia (Group N)

June 29 — Round of 32

July 4 — Round of 16

All matches kick off at noon or 7 PM Central Time at Houston Stadium (NRG Stadium).

Beyond Match Day

Houston is setting up a massive FIFA Fan Festival in the EaDo (East Downtown) neighborhood, accessible via the Green/Purple METRORail lines with a transfer at Main Street Square station. Even without a match ticket, you can watch games on big screens surrounded by fans from around the world.

Between matches, you're in the heart of downtown Houston's Theater District with world-class dining, Market Square Park across the street, the Downtown Aquarium, and more — all walkable from the hotel. See everything nearby →
